Andrew T. Sumner is Director, Associate Professor of Health Administration and Information Systems, and holder of the endowed Joe Taylor Chair, Institute of Health Administration, J. Mack Robinson College of Business. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and has extensive experience in healthcare management, including strategic planning, operations management, quality improvement, and health information systems.

He has served on the AUPHA Board of Directors, Technology Association of GA (Health) Board; the national ACHE Higher Education and Research Committee; and the ACHE’s Piedmont Region (North Georgia) Regent’s Advisory Committee. He also served as Chair and on the Board of Directors, Promina Health Plan, Inc. (a component of the Promina Health System – a #1 ranked integrated U.S. health system), and Chair, Medicaid Administration Advisory Committee, Department of Community Health, State of Georgia.

Dr. Sumner previously was with the CDC in the Office of the Director, the Medical College of Georgia, Georgia Tech, DuPont, and Tennessee Eastman. He received a Sc.D. in health policy and management from the Johns Hopkins University, and his M.S. & B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering (Health Systems) from Georgia Tech.
