SUMMARY:Business and Policy Dialogue Series on ‘Rejuvenating India's Public Health System and Working with the Private Sector’
DESCRIPTION:The global healthcare industry is in the midst of a significant transformation\, a process accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Several megatrends and disruptive technologies have converged to drive this transformation across the healthcare ecosystem. The government sector in India plays a major role in providing ‘Healthcare for All’\, a difficult task to manage on its own. Thus\, there is a need for collaboration and partnership with the private sector. The private sector can substantially support the Government’s tertiary care and primary health efforts through a public-private partnership (PPP) model. The PPP model in India has seen success in other areas such as infrastructure\, energy\, tourism. It can very well be the panacea to India’s healthcare challenges as well. PPP in healthcare has the potential to resolve the issues and ensure healthcare inclusion for the Indian masses. With the partnership of both public and private sectors\, India’s public health system can be rejuvenated. In the next edition of ISB’s Business and Policy Dialogue\, Prof. Sarang Deo\, Executive Director\, Max Institute of Healthcare Management & Professor\, Operations Management\, ISB will be conversing with Smt. Arti Ahuja\, IAS\, Additional Secretary\, Department of Health and Family Welfare\, Government of India on ‘Rejuvenating India’s public health system and working with the private sector’.

SUMMARY:AI IN MEDICAL IMAGING: FEAR\, HYPE\, REALITY\, AND FUTURE
DESCRIPTION:You may be encountering articles on artificial intelligence (AI) in medical imaging every week\, and it is clear that it is one of the hottest topics in medical imaging today. When it comes to understanding AI in medical imaging and its potential future\, one needs to appreciate the fear\, hype\, reality\, and challenges of this technology. \nFirst\, there is the fear factor\, as evidenced by many medical students\, radiology trainees\, and radiologists asking if they will be replaced by AI soon\, further fueled by AI experts and articles with eye-catching titles. However\, this webinar will explain why even some of the world experts in AI are wrong in their opinion of AI in radiology. Second\, we will examine why there is such hype in AI\, why medical imaging became a prime target of much AI hype in medicine\, and some of the hype surrounding this technology. Third\, we will examine the hype versus reality when it comes to AI. This webinar will also explore the challenges of AI in medicine\, some of which are unique to healthcare. Finally\, we will explore the future of AI in medical imaging.

SUMMARY:The New Health IT: Post-Pandemic Capabilities and Challenges
DESCRIPTION:While IT departments have been successful over the last year\, the IT workforce is tired\, and the separation of IT work from general healthcare creates new challenges. In this presentation\, we will share the lessons learned on how effective IT support enabled a large health system to manage the pandemic and the current surge in demand for care and vaccinations. The pandemic has forced healthcare IT departments to become more agile and deliver new functionality in near real time. Development efforts that traditionally took months were compressed into weeks. \nWe identify the six IT capabilities that are essential to any healthcare delivery system: testing and contact tracing\, patient classification\, seamless documentation\, telehealth\, remote monitoring in ICU and other remote settings\, collaborative capacity planning across healthcare delivery systems\, and effective governance through one-stop requirements generation. \nObjectives: \n\nPresent an overview of the COVID-19 health IT response at a major health system\nIdentify six key IT capabilities that every health system should create\nExplain the challenges that are ahead.
