SUMMARY:Voting\, Structural Racism\, and Health Inequities
DESCRIPTION:The 2020 election brought the connection between voting and health to the forefront. Despite a constitutional right to vote\, voter suppression and voter disempowerment cultivate an electorate and government that is less inclusive and less representative\, which exacerbates inequities in political power and in health and well-being. Join our panel of experts as they discuss the connections between voting access\, voter suppression\, and policy\, and how voting can affect efforts to address racism and eliminate health inequities.

SUMMARY:2017 Symposium in Innovating in the Health Sector
DESCRIPTION:Impacting the Medical Device Value Chain: What is the Right Supply Chain for Your Product? \nCompanies around the globe are working to develop a set of technologies that will meet the goals of the triple aim – impacting cost\, quality\, outcomes\, and improved population health.  In his book\, “The Creative Destruction of Medicine\,” Eric Topol\, M.D.\, (the 2017 McKenna lecturer at Arizona State University) identifies a disruptive change in medicine occurring due to an unprecedented “super convergence” of critical elements: low-power wireless biosensors\, digital imaging\, genome sequencing\, mobile connectivity\, smartphones\, the internet\, social networking\, virtually unlimited computing power/data storage/bandwidth and pervasive health information systems. The 2017 symposium will focus on innovation in the health sector and impacts on the value chain and supply chains in medical device and pharmaceutical industries. \n  \nWe will consider ways innovative companies approach product development as well as principal upstream and downstream strategies and risks associated with innovative medical products. The extent to which products and processes are truly disruptive will be considered. Product diversity will be addressed including impacts of evolving business-to-business and business-to-customer strategies\, biosensors\, 3-D printing\, and the shift of care outside of the acute care setting. \nTo register for the symposium that follows lunch\, please visit: \nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/2017-symposium-in-innovating-in-the-health-sector-registration-29417290909 \nSponsored by the Health Sector Supply Chain Research Consortium

SUMMARY:Wharton Health Care Business Conference: Breaking Boundaries
DESCRIPTION:23rd Annual Wharton Health Care Business Conference: Breaking Boundaries\nThis year’s conference theme is Breaking Boundaries: Redefining Collaboration and Competition in an Evolving Market”. As the transition to value-based care and the scrutiny of health care costs continues\, both start-ups and industry giants alike are seeking novel ways to stake their claim in an evolving market. In some cases\, increased collaboration is required to share resources or fund development. In other cases\, innovative business models are increasingly at odds with traditional sector lines. Should you specialize and partner\, or acquire and grow? Bolster your core operations\, or extend your reach and compete? This year’s conference will focus on how companies are balancing the tension between collaboration and competition to answer these questions while breaking down the traditional boundaries that have defined the industry.
