Supply Chain Advancement Network in Health Virtual Business Case Competition 2018

by the Supply Chain Advancement Network in Health (SCAN Health). SCAN Health is a global network of business schools, health systems, governments, and industries working collaboratively to advance supply chain strategy and logistics in the health sector across five countries. The SCAN Health Virtual Business Case Competition (SCANHvBCC) is the first of four invitational
business case competitions designed to build leadership capacity for excellence and innovation in
supply chain and logistics strategies in global health systems. SCANHvBCC will bring together the
best business school teams in the world to mobilize knowledge and create solutions to advance supply
chain capacity in global health systems. In recognition of your reputation for excellence and
scholarship, Dr. Anne Snowdon and I are delighted to invite your business schools students to
participate in this groundbreaking competition.

 

SCANHvBCC engages leading business schools spanning five countries, Canada, the U.S., the U.K., the Netherlands, and Australia, to mobilize supply chain knowledge, best practice, and innovation to strengthen health system safety and performance. The SCAN Health network is comprised of over 100
partners from industry, government, health systems, and leading business schools, who collaborate as
an integrated network to mobilize knowledge and expertise to support and advance supply chain
strategy, capacity, and infrastructure in global health systems. The exceptional expertise and
scholarship of your school will bring tremendous strength to this inaugural global case competition.

 

We welcome your talented student teams to compete and engage with global industry leaders, policy
makers, health system leaders, and leading business schools during this virtual global competition.

Competition Details

The Teams: The competition is open to teams comprised of four undergraduate students nominated
by leading business schools.
The Competition: The competition will showcase students’ knowledge, skills, and innovative
solutions to advance supply chain and logistics in a leading global health system.
The Virtual Format: This first of its kind virtual business case competition will enable student teams
from three continents to compete fairly and effectively. Students will receive and submit all case
information and interact with expert advisors through our secure online platform.

The Objectives:

  • To mobilize the knowledge, creativity, and innovative solutions across leading business school
    teams, from five countries, to inform the transformation of supply chain best practice to strengthen
    safety, efficiency, cost savings, and performance of global health systems;
  • To link student teams with global leaders and industry experts in health system innovation, and
    supply chain and logistics to support their learning and career opportunities in the health sector;
  • To create a collaborative network of emerging student leaders working across the world to advance
    supply chain best practice;
  • To build the next generation of leaders with expertise in health sector supply chain, by linking them
    with renowned leaders from industry, the health sector, and policy experts to work on a real-world
    business challenge.

 

The Competition Details: All competition and registration details can be found at
www.SCANHealth.ca. The competition takes place February 5 to March 20, 2018 and is divided into
two rounds. Winning teams will be announced on April 4, 2018.

The Registration Process: Registration opens February 5, 2018. Teams are asked to register at
www.SCANHealth.ca/virtual-case-competition. Upon registration, teams will be provided all case
materials through our secure online platform.

The Expert Advisors: This first of its kind virtual business case competition offers student teams the
opportunity to work with global leaders, as expert advisors, to support their learning and success in the
competition.

The Prizes: TECSYS Inc. has generously donated prizes for the top three winning teams. Prizes are
awarded in Canadian dollars. The first place team will be awarded $5,000, second place, $3,000, and
third place, $2,000.

The Profile: The top three winning teams will be widely profiled across the entire SCAN Health global
network on the SCAN Health website, through social media, and at the network’s events. Winning
teams will be provided free registration to attend the Annual SCAN Health Global Networking Event.
